Run, Mustangs, Run!

I know some may be excited for the return of Friday Night Lights, but in this house, it's volleyball season!!  My 15 year old plays for her high school's JV team but we have friends on the Freshman and Varsity teams as well.  I was so excited when our Varsity team asked me to take their "fun" team pictures this year!  These girls are not only amazing on the court, but they are kind, courteous and excellent examples to students and other players off the court as well.  We had a great time at this photo shoot and a special thank you to TRU by Hilton in Garland for letting us use your hotel lobby!

Best Friends heading Back to School

These two... are they not the cutest kids?!  I have photographed both of these sweet kids since they were babies!  Their moms are best friends and so are they!  Dylan started school last year and is heading off to 1st grade this year.  Grace is a big Kindergartener, but she knows her best buddy will be at the same school and will always have her back! ❤️ I love watching these kids grow year after year. ❤️

First session in our First Year Package!

One of the many packages I offer is the "First Year" Package.  It gives the family a change to get their precious baby's 3 month, 6 month, 9 month and 1 year photo sessions at a discounted rate!

Kristen contacted me a few weeks ago to schedule baby Oliver's 3 month session.  This adorable family was brave enough to head out on a 110 degree day to capture their adorable baby boy!  These are some of my favorite shots.  I can't wait to see him again at 6 months and see how much he's grown!! <3. (Hopefully, we'll have MUCH cooler weather! lol)

Some sessions are special

and this is one of them.

I've known Stefani for years.  She is a fellow mom (we met on an online mom's group) and a fellow photographer (she does our family pictures when we have time for them!).  I have done maternity pictures for her, gender reveals and family pictures.  I love watching her family grow and her kids grow up.

Last year, I did a session for them and she didn't know it at the time, but it was their first session as a family of "7".  Stefani was unknowingly pregnant at the time!  For the next few months, she and her family prepared for this unexpected blessing.  Stefani and I talked about maternity session ideas and first family photos.  She found out she was having a girl and her name was to be Wren.  With their family initials, that spelled A.W.E.S.O.M.E.

Then, sadly, the unthinkable happened.  Stefani became one of the one in four women who experience a miscarriage.  Precious Wren was gone at 19 weeks.  It was a devastating blow to this beautiful family.  

Since then, Stefani has been incredibly brave and outspoken in her grief.  Having a miscarriage can feel lonely and isolating.  Stefani has used her grief to be a light to other women and to let them know they are not alone.  I personally had a miscarriage at 10 weeks during my second pregnancy.  It's not something that ever leaves you.  Even something as simple as a doctor's visit brings a painful reminder with the questions, "How many pregnancies have you had? How many births?"  Those two numbers are forever different.

As Wren's due date approached, Stefani contacted me so we could do a family photo shoot.  Her little ones happily posed and Stefani brought a special sign so they will always remember how their family is forever AWESOME.

Another Father's Day Special

I had so much fun with this session!  If I'm honest, most of the dads are happy to take part in their family sessions because it makes their wives happy.  But very few are the ones who are asking for the session to begin with!  But this dad was different.

He had been asking for family pictures for a while, but the timing was never quite right.  I posted my Father's Day Mini special and this lovely mother jumped at the opportunity.  Not only did she get an awesome gift for Father's Day, but we surprised him at the session!  He had no idea until I got out of the car and we told him why they were at a random park and dressed nicely.  My job is so fun!
